our peer mentors

Veteran Peer Mentoring

All of our VCN Peer Mentors bring valuable lived experience of military life and have completed training through the Combat Stress Learning Platform and VCN's comprehensive Peer Mentor training programme, both of which are essential to their roles in providing mental health support. VCN's guiding principle is 'do no harm', ensuring that all Peer Mentors receive regular supervision from the Service Director to maintain their effectiveness and safety in delivering veteran support services, including peer mentoring.

Mark Davis

PEER MENTOR IN BEDFORDSHIRE, LUTON, MILTON KEYNES & NORTHAMPTONSHIRE. I served for about 13 years in the Royal Tank Regiment, completing 1 operational tour of Northern Ireland and 8 years of front-line service in Germany. After taking medical retirement from Royal Mail after 26 years, I have embraced a new beginning focused on providing mental health support through peer mentoring for veterans. This is my opportunity to give back to the forces community and support vital veteran services.

Wilf Bamford

PEER MENTOR CLUSTER LEAD - WEST: BUCKINGHAMSHIRE, OXFORDSHIRE AND BERKSHIRE (B.O.B) & BEDFORDSHIRE LEAD FOR FINDING VETERANS IN CARE HOMES.

I am a veteran of the army having served with the RAMC for 9 years.

Since leaving the army, I have worked as a nurse in various organisations including Prisons and the NHS, focusing on mental health support for individuals in need.

After taking early retirement in 2023, I decided to change direction away from nursing and explore ways to provide peer mentoring for veterans like myself. I am delighted to now be one of VCN’s peer mentors, serving as the Southeast Thrive Together Network Cluster Lead – West, covering Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire and West Berkshire, and dedicated to enhancing veteran support services.
