It was lovely to see how happy they were when they got their certificates. Gill and Wilf have been invited back later in the year to show them how the tapestry is getting on.
The home is also going for the Veteran Friendly Frame work accreditation through the Royal Star and Garter.
At the start of the year, The Veterans Community Network received the fantastic news that our appeal for the 150th Sesquicentennial Appeal was successful and that we were also selected as 'Charity of the Year'. With enormous thanks to the Masonic Charitable Foundation for this award.
On 04 June 2025, members of the Masons attended the Racecourse Garden to present a cheque to the Veterans Community Network. The cheque amount was made up of donations received from the Lodge of United Services, Provincial Grand Lodge of Northamptonshire & Huntingdonshire and the Masonic Charitable Foundation. A huge thank you for their all of their generosity and support.
Last Christmas time, VCN Veterans Choir were invited to perform at St Marys Church in Portsmouth by Veterans Voices. We had a fantastic day and would like to thank everyone who came and supported the event. A special thanks to Jan, who stepped up to save the day from disaster by organising a replacement coach to Portsmouth at such short notice from Milton Keynes Bus Station.
Another special thanks to Tina, our VCN Social Activities Co-ordinator & Older Veteran Engagement Lead for leading the Choir. We really all did ourselves proud. VCN would like to thank the organisers of the Veterans Voices for this fantastic opportunity.
