Darren has worked in the Armed Forces charity sector for over 15 years in a range of roles supporting veterans, families and the wider Armed Forces Community.
He is currently Programme Manager for VCN, leading on the East of England VALOUR application. Darren brings a broad mix of skills and experience to VCN, including accounting, IT, project management, teaching and regional partnership development.
Having managed both the VPPP and Thrive Together programmes across the East of England, Darren has a strong understanding of the regional Armed Forces charity landscape and the importance of building joined-up, practical support networks for veterans and their families.

I have worked with an armed forces charity for 2 and a half years before joining VCN, and I am passionate about working with the community since a close family member joined the Royal Marines and saw active service. My previous experience is in private businesses, managing teams, purchasing spend and budgets. In this role, I will support VCN and provide systems support as their charity expands.

I work part-time as an employed member of the VCN team, serving as the Finance Manager, handling all business administration to support VCN in the background. I have approximately 15 years of experience in a variety of administrative roles, a BTEC National Diploma in Business Studies, qualified to Associate Level CIPD Membership in Human Resources, and an AAT Certificate in Bookkeeping, with plans to further my education to continue providing additional support to VCN in the near future. I have personal experience living with and supporting a Veteran within my close family, and therefore have an understanding and appreciation for the support and services that VCN offers to Veterans.
